The mind itself is a new frontier to be sculpted and engineered through brain computer interfaces. There's a transformative liberating potential to merge or consciousness with our machines and, eventually, interface directly with super-intelligent artificial intelligence. 

Yet simultaneously our consciousness is being reshaped by the constant onslaught of information online. Reality itself is experienced through a stream of images that are detached from the experiences they attempt to capture. Information warfare pervades the news. And armies of fake accounts spread misinformation, bending public sentiment towards the vision of any group with the power to do so.

Warfare has grown to encapsulate land, sea, air, space, the internet, our minds, and any space physical or digital capable of having force exerted within it. The US Military describes the Joint Intelligence Preparation of the Operational Environment (JIPOE). It's a systematic method used by intelligence departments to understand and conduct warfare operations. 

Our minds themselves are the next Operational Environment.
